North Geelong Vic 3215 – Interesting Facts
North Geelong is an inner northern suburb of Geelong which is located to the north of Geelong. Smaller Geelong suburbs such as Drumcondra, Rippleside and St. Helens are also located within Nth Geelong and are also just outside the northern perimeter of the Geelong CBD.
Nth Geelong has an equal mix of residential and commercial properties and has been the home of Target’s head office since it was founded in Geelong in 1925.
During the 1950’s, North Geelong had a dramatic increase in the construction of residential properties. Mainly due to the increase in manufacturing jobs throught the Geelong region.
Part of Nth Geelong, in particular the small pocket of ressidential and commercial businesses, located on the eastern side of the Melbourne Road and north of St. Helens Park to Osborne House was redistributed. Local residents in this area were hoping to be called their own suburb, however they were amalgamated with Rippleside. This area has gone on to become a very sought after residential area with a number of the older period stye homes having under gone expensive and drastic renovations.
